Hyderabad Metro is one of the more straightforward systems to learn - two lines, one key interchange, and predictable rush hours.
Operating hours
- First train: 6:00 AM on weekdays and Saturdays, 7:00 AM on Sundays and holidays
- Last train: extended to 11:45 PM on weekdays as of an April 2025 schedule change
- Frequency: every 3-7 minutes at peak, 8-10 minutes off-peak
The one station name you need to know: Ameerpet
Ameerpet is the interchange connecting the Red and Blue lines - if your journey involves switching lines, this is almost certainly where you'll do it. Get familiar with this name before you travel; it comes up constantly.
When it's busiest
The Ameerpet-Raidurg stretch is the most crowded segment during peak hours, largely thanks to the IT corridor it serves. If you can ride outside the morning and evening rush, late morning or mid-afternoon is noticeably calmer - and if you're on a smart card, riding in the 6-8 AM or 8-11 PM windows also gets you an extra discount (see our smart card guide).
Getting through security
Security is a quick bag scan plus a tap-in at the automated gates - generally efficient and not a bottleneck even during busier periods.
