Kochi Water Metro
Kochi Water Metro is India's first water metro system, running air-conditioned, hybrid-electric catamaran ferries across the backwaters and islands of Greater Kochi, Kerala. It is majority-owned by the Kerala Government (74%) with Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) holding 26%, and is operated by KWML, a KMRL subsidiary. Launched on 26 April 2023, the fully built-out network is planned to span 76 km across 16 routes and 38 terminals connecting 10 island communities; as of late 2025 six routes and twelve terminals are operational.
