Mumbai Monorail

The Mumbai Monorail is India's only operating monorail system, built by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and run by Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL). Its single line, Line 1, runs 19.54 km from Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk (Jacob Circle) to Chembur across 17 stations, opened in two phases (2 February 2014 and 3 March 2019). Services were suspended system-wide from 20 September 2025 for safety upgrades and new rolling stock; a restart was approved by the Maharashtra government for 2026 but, as of the sources checked, full public service had not yet definitively resumed.
